One too many - Two a crowd?

Miss 5 was told to stay home with Mum and little brother. Determined to go to town with her father, she retorted to me with hands on hips, "You can't handle the 2 of us together Mum, I have to go with Dad". Her Dad succumbed to taking her with him. Smiling, he shrugged, "She's a smart one!"

Generation 'Gap'

Miss 5 asked me the other day, "How old are you Mum?" I replied unashamedly, "42". "42!!!" she exclaimed. After a short moment of pondering, she continued "and how old is Dad?" "He's a little older than me" How old? She asked again. "Dad's older than me" I repeated. "Like 50 or 100?". She responded. It was my turn to exclaim!

Peer Pressure

Our toddler not yet 2, was out to lunch with his sister, his grandmother and me. Beside our table sat another mother with her little boy about the same age. The two boys were introduced and were happy interacting together and making friends, when my little man indicated he wanted a drink. Out of habit, I passed him his bottle of milk. He pushed it away. I offered it to him once more and yet again he pushed it away accompanied with a look of obvious distain, as to say ‘Don’t embarrass me Mum, big boys don’t have bottles! Can’t you see I’m with a friend here?!
